Coach Joe Smeton

Pitching Coach & Strength Trainer

Joe is in his first year coaching full time at the farm, after graduating from Nova Southeastern this past Spring. From the left-handed side, he brings along a well-rounded yet detailed approach to coaching here at the farm.

As a former collegiate athlete, it was actually the high school phase that was cut short due to Tommy John. Two years after surgery, Joe got back into the game by playing at the powerhouse Juco, Harford Community College. After a two year stint in Bel Air, MD, he finished off in south FL at Nova Southeastern.

Below is a quick highlight of his performance…
Stats @Harford  //  5-1, 1 SV as reliever. 27.2 IP 33K/7BB
As for Nova, he continued to contribute at a more spot role, while still acquiring a Win as well as a scoreless appearance in the NCAA D2 Regional Tournament. The next two years were even more inconsistent as affected by Covid-19.

However, just as it was an interesting end to the collegiate career, it also propelled a quality understanding of all the aspects provided by the game of Baseball; both the ups and downs.
And so with this not so normal path back to and through the success, while also competing pain-free, Joe gained the depth necessary to apply his understanding of the game as it pertains to coaching at a high level. Coach Joe is a true student of the game who looks to empower all.
